AI Phone Calls

AI Phone Call Handling, Both Directions

Answering the phone is half the job. The other half is the calls you never get round to making — confirming tomorrow’s appointments, chasing the quote nobody replied to, ringing the waiting list when a slot opens.

An AI phone call is a call handled by a voice agent rather than a person. It works in both directions: answering your incoming calls around the clock, and placing outbound calls such as appointment reminders, confirmations and waiting-list offers on your behalf.

Tell us which calls you want handled

We build a demo agent for your business so you can hear both directions before you decide anything.

Live Demo

A GP surgery call outside opening hours: the agent works out what is needed, books it, and escalates what should not wait.

One agent, one voice, both directions — not two separate systems.

Both Directions

The Calls You Take, and the Calls You Never Make

Inbound gets all the attention. In most businesses the outbound backlog quietly costs more.

Call typeWhat the agent doesWhat it saves you
Inbound enquiryAnswers, informs, books or takes a full messageThe call that would have rung out
Appointment reminderRings the day before, confirms or rebooksNo-shows nobody had time to prevent
Waiting-list offerWorks down the list until a cancellation is filledAn empty slot that stays empty
Quote follow-upRings back, answers questions, flags real interestQuotes that go cold unchased
Out-of-hours callAnswers, triages, escalates the genuinely urgentVoicemail nobody rings back
The Distinction

Why This Is Not an Automated Phone System

Everyone has been trapped in an automated phone system. Press 1 for accounts, press 2 for support, press 9 to hear these options again, and no option for the thing you actually rang about. The design assumption is that every caller’s need fits a category someone thought of in advance.

An AI phone call inverts that. There is no menu. The caller says what they want in their own words — “I’ve got a crown that’s come loose and I’m away next week” — and the agent works out that this is urgent, that the constraint is dates, and that the useful next step is an appointment before Friday. No branch of a menu tree covers that sentence.

It also means callers can interrupt, correct themselves and change their mind mid-sentence, all of which break a menu system instantly. People give a mobile number, realise they transposed two digits, and say so three sentences later. An AI caller follows that; an IVR does not.

The honest limit is judgement. When a call needs someone to weigh a situation, make a commercial decision or handle real distress, the agent should hand over — and ours does, with the context already captured so your colleague is not starting from nothing.

How It Works

Start With One Direction

1

Pick the first job

Most businesses start with inbound out-of-hours, because it is the clearest win and the easiest to judge. Some start with reminder calls instead.

2

Hear it and shape it

You get a test line. Ring it, try to trip it up, tell us what sounded wrong. Wording, voice and escalation rules all change at this stage.

3

Add the other direction

Once inbound is settled, outbound is a small step — the agent already knows your services, your calendar and your tone.

What Our Clients Say

The reminder calls were the surprise. We always meant to do them and never did — now they just happen every afternoon.

We had a menu system before. Patients hated it. This just lets them say what they want, which is what they were trying to do anyway.

Why Business AI Agents

One Agent, Not a Stack of Tools

Same voice both ways

Inbound and outbound share one agent, one set of knowledge and one tone — not two products bolted together.

No menu trees

Nothing for your callers to navigate. They say what they want and the agent takes it from there.

Honest handover

When a call needs a person it says so and passes the context across, rather than guessing and getting it wrong.

UK rules respected

UK GDPR, ICO guidance, and outbound limited to service calls to your own customers.

AI Phone Calls: Common Questions

Can AI make outbound phone calls as well as answer them?

Yes. Outbound is usually appointment reminders, booking confirmations, waiting-list offers and simple follow-ups. The agent rings, has the conversation, updates your calendar and reports back — the same voice your callers already hear.

Is this just an automated phone system with menus?

No. An automated phone system makes the caller navigate a menu tree. The agent listens to what someone actually says and responds, so there is no “press 1” and no dead end when the reason for calling is not on the list.

Does the AI caller sound robotic?

It sounds like a clear, calm phone voice rather than a text-to-speech readout. Hear it and judge for yourself — that is why we build a demo agent before asking you to decide anything.

What happens on a call it cannot handle?

It says so, takes the detail, and either transfers to a named person or flags an urgent callback. It does not improvise, and it does not pretend to have booked something it has not.

Are the calls recorded?

You choose. Recordings and transcripts can be kept, kept briefly, or not at all. Whatever you pick is applied under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, with the ICO as regulator.

Do outbound calls follow UK marketing rules?

Service calls to your own customers — reminders, confirmations, follow-ups on an existing job — are what this is for. We do not use it for cold consumer sales calls, which sit under PECR and the TPS.
