For Small Businesses

A Call Answering Service for Small Business Owners Who Are Mid-Job

You cannot be up a ladder and on the phone at the same time. Every call you miss is someone ringing the next name on their search results, and they very rarely ring back.

A call answering service for small business answers the calls you cannot take yourself. Ours is an AI voice agent: it picks up while you are working, answers questions about your services and prices, books the job into your calendar, and texts you the details.

Find out what it would cost you

A flat monthly figure, no per-call charge. If you only miss a couple of calls a month we will tell you it is not worth it.

Hear It Answer

A customer rings out of hours. The agent answers, handles the question and books the appointment — the same pattern whatever the trade.

Most people ringing a tradesperson or an independent are working down a list. The first one who picks up usually gets the job, and the callers who reach voicemail almost never ring back.

The Real Trade-Off

You Are Choosing Between Two Bad Options Right Now

Every small business owner who answers their own phone is making the same decision twenty times a day, usually without noticing it. Take the call and lose your concentration on the job in front of you, or let it ring and lose whatever was on the other end.

Neither is a good outcome, and the second one is worse than it looks. It is invisible. A missed call leaves no trace beyond a number you might recognise later, so the cost never shows up anywhere you would notice it. You do not get an alert saying “that was a bathroom refit and it has gone to someone else”. Businesses run for years quietly leaking work this way and put the quiet month down to the market.

Answering everything is not the answer either, because the interruption cost is real. Stopping mid-task to take a call about something you cannot deal with right now, then trying to pick the job back up, is genuinely expensive in a way that is also hard to see.

A small business answering service removes the choice entirely. The call is answered, the caller gets a real response rather than a beep, and you get a text with the details when you come down off the ladder. You decide what to do about it at a moment that suits you, which is the part that has never been available before.

What Our Clients Say

I used to ring people back at eight at night and half of them had already booked someone else. That does not happen now.

The flat fee mattered. A per-call service meant I was thinking about the bill every time I forwarded the phone.

Small Business Call Answering: Common Questions

How much does an answering service for small business cost?

Most providers charge per call or per minute, so a good month costs you more. We quote a flat monthly fee based on what the agent needs to know and do. Tell us your trade and rough call volume and we will give you a number.

Is a phone answering service for small business different from a big-company one?

The call mix is. A small business answering service has to quote prices and book jobs, because there is no office behind it to pass things to. Enterprise services mostly route calls to departments.

Is it worth it if I only miss a few calls?

Probably not, and we will say so. The maths works when missed calls are costing you jobs regularly. If you answer nearly everything already, you are solving a problem you do not have.

Can it quote prices for me?

It can quote from a price list you give us — call-out charges, hourly rates, standard jobs. Anything needing a site visit or a judgement call is captured as an enquiry and passed to you rather than guessed at.

Do I need to change my number?

No. You keep your number and set it to forward — all calls, or only when you do not answer after a few rings. Most sole traders use the second, so they still pick up when they are free.

What do I actually get after a call?

A text or email within seconds: who rang, their number, what they wanted, and what was agreed or booked. No more trying to remember a number someone left on voicemail while you were driving.

Will my customers mind talking to an AI?

Far less than they mind voicemail. The agent introduces itself as a virtual assistant, and most callers simply get on with it because they got an answer instead of a beep.
